     I Literally Can’t Deal With Sonnets.  

Literally cannot figure this out

I think sonnets have way too many rules

I don’t even know what to write about

People who can write decent sonnets are fools

why do I even have to do this shit

This is actually so fricken dumb

Counting syllables looking like a twit

I can’t think of anything, my mind’s numb

I swear to god I’m trying my hardest

I’m up way too late trying to finish

Trust me though, this poem is not the best

My struggle of writing is the biggest

I do not want anyone to read this

Once I’m finally done I’ll have bliss.

School.

Every single day I have to go to goddamn school

and every single day I’m taught the exact same things the exact same way as thirty other kids

school is a place meant to prepare me for my future,

my specific future

but based on how the system operates in being prepared for the exact same future as everyone else

I walk into my classrooms- which are just giant forests of desks,

and I prepare myself for lessons that are unengaging and always leave me wondering what the point of what I was just “taught” was

and there’s no real form of revenge that can be taken that won’t backfire in the end.
